Send Large Files

March 20th, 2009

We are all so used to using e-mail.  It’s easy, fast, and you get to send or read it on your own time.  And as more and more people use it to actually get work done (as opposed to social communication) we’re inclined to send larger and larger attachments.  And this poses a challenge.

Most Internet Service Providers put a limit on the size of an e-mail that you can send.  Comcast, for example, limits e-mails to 10MB, and recommends attachments totaling less than 7MB.

So what’s a person to do?

Enter YouSendIt.  YouSendIt is one of many services available that allows you to send large files to whomever you want.  Actually, you don’t really send the file – you upload it to the YouSendIt server, and they notify the recipient that a file is available for download – but it does the same job.

Best of all, YouSendIt has a free “Lite” subscription that allows you to send up to a 100MB file to up to 100 recipients.

So next time you need to send a large file, don’t clog the e-mail channels, visit www.YouSendIt.com and sign up for a free account.
